Windows 11 on Raspberry Pi

Introduction

While Windows 11 was only available on Intel and AMD computers, a new version has just been released for the Raspberry Pi. In this course, we’ll look at how to install it, and whether it’s right for the Raspberry Pi.

To do this, we’re going to use a utility, Wor-Flasher, to install Windows on an external storage pace from Raspberry Pi OS. This installation doesn’t require an external computer – it’s all done on the Raspberry Pi itself!

Software installation

The first step is to update our Raspberry Pi :

sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get update

We’ll then download the utility that will enable us to install Windows from github :

git clone https://github.com/Botspot/wor-flasher

Here’s the result:

We then enter the Wor-flasher folder:

cd wor-flasher

We then install Wor-flasher :

sudo ./install-wor-gui.sh

Here’s the utility once launched:

You can choose to install Windows 11 or Windows 10 on the Raspiberry Pi 5, 4 3 or even 2:

You can choose the language for your Windows :

All that remains is to choose the external storage space on which you wish to install Windows :

All that’s left is to flash the chosen storage space with Windows :

You then wait for Windows to download and install itself on your storage space:

Once installation is complete, you’ll be prompted to restart your Raspberry Pi.

Windows Installer

Once installation is complete, you can switch off your Raspberry Pi. All you have to do is remove the MicroSD card containing Raspberry Pi OS and leave only the Windows sotckage. This will force the Raspberry Pi to boot into Windows when it reboots. Once the MicroSD card has been removed, you can restart your Rapsberry Pi.

All that’s left is to configure our Windows 11 :

You can then use Windnows 11 on the Raspberry Pi :
